Welcome to the website of HUNTER’S LODGE NO. 156 A.F. & A.M.

The Order of Freemasonry exists as the oldest and largest fraternal organization in the world. Our ancient, free and accepted masons include men from all walks of life; professionals, tradesmen and laborers. Through the use of symbolism and allegories, freemasonry teaches the equality of men and institutes the principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth. Our brethren preserve our ancient tenets through the allegorical application of useful tools and implements of architecture to construct men into brethren of better character and personality. Our fraternal organization provides frequent opportunities to collaboratively strengthen the character of individual men through fellowship, charity, education, and leadership - a brotherhood of men creating a profound future for our fellow brethren, families, communities, and world.

The Grand Lodge of Virginia is the oldest independent body in the United States. Hunter's Masonic Lodge #156 in Blacksburg, Virginia chartered in 1856 exists as one of the seven lodges within the 40th masonic district of Virginia.

He took the golden compasses, prepared in God’s eternal store, to circumscribe this Universe, and all created things. One foot He centered, and the other turned round through the vast profundity obscure, and said “Thus far extend, thus far thy bounds, this be thy just circumference, O World!”
— "Paradise Lost" by John Milton
